Hello, recently my install of Windows 7 Ultimate was somehow wiped from my hard drive. So now whenever I boot from the hard drive, it just says that bootmgr is missing and to restart my PC. So what I did was, I flashed a Windows XP Professional ISO to my USB stick (Datatraveler G4 32 GB). Even after I booted from my bootable USB, it still gave me the same message, bootmgr is missing, press CTRL + Alt+ Del to restart. Even though bootmgr is on the USB!!! And before you ask, YES, I have legacy USB enabled in my BIOS settings. I attached a picture of the USB'S content in this post. Well I love Windows XPs. It is my favorite OS and always will be. And I have legacy boot enabled in my BIOS settings. ![]() But whenever I boot from my usb to run the install for XP, it seems like it is trying to boot from the hard drive which has no windows install on it. So my computer gives me a message saying that bootmgr is missing and to restart. Bootmgr is on the usb with the xp install on it. And in the boot priority settings, I have usb as the first priority. So when the computer turns on, it should boot directly to the usb, but it seems like it doesnt. ![]() Aug 29, 2016 - When you attempt to install Windows 7 on external drive, you get “Windows cannot be installed to this disk” error.
